FAQ
How long does a shoot take?
We typically like to allow 1-2 hours.
What should I wear?
Something you feel comfortable in, and please avoid busy fabric prints and logos / branding. If the shoot is themed eg school, construction, business, medical... we will give specific direction and / or provide wardrobe.
When do I get paid?
Within 7 days of the shoot. We will send you a 'recipient created tax invoice' and ask for your bank details before the shoot, and transfer the money directly into your bank account.
When will I receive the photos?
Typically our photographers need 3-4 weeks to edit their photos, so you can expect to receive the photos within that time.
Do I have to sign anything?
Yes, we will provide you with a model release form to sign. A copy of this form is also available to download in the footer of this page.
Where will the photos be used?
NZstockphoto is a stock image library, where Kiwi brands like Woolworths come to license imagery for their communications. Uses can vary greatly but together with Austockphoto, we have licensed images that have been used in magazines, gift cards and even on a coin!
Models have rights, there are guidelines around how the images can and cannot be used on the "Legals" page on our website. We track it as much as we can but can't cross check every licensed image so in the end, if people feel unsure about taking part then it's probably not for them.
How much money are you making from my photos?
Photographers only make an income when the images are licensed, and it's typical a photographer will make between $200 and $600 per year for a shoot.
Where will the shoot take place?
Let's figure that out together. For family shoots we love shooting in people's homes, and if we do that, we will require a property release signed. Otherwise we could head to the park, or a beach, or another location.
What kinds of photos are you after?
In order for the shoot to hold value for us, we will need to get pictures of you doing everyday things... so we'd like to get those as well as some lovely personal shots for you to keep. An example of a photo that might be of value to us is a parent and a child packing the car for a road trip, this might be useful for the tourism as well as insurance industries.
How long before I hear back from you?
We try to get back to applicants reasonably quickly but please allow 2 weeks for us to connect you with a photographer.
Who will be taking the pictures?
We are a team of photographers located in both Australia and New Zealand. We will ask for your location and then take it from there.
Can i review the images before they go live?
Yes, of course. And if there are any you don't love, we don't have to use them.
Who owns the rights to the images?
The photos will be the photographers' artistic work, they own copyright.
NZstockphoto acknowledges the Māori as the tangata whenua of Aotearoa New Zealand, and we pay our respects to their elders, past, present, and emerging.
